The Bush, Upper Cwmbran, ceased trading in October 2009, much to the disappointment of many regulars, but much to the delight of the immediate neighbours. Since the smoking ban the pub has been well, LOUD!
Admiral Taverns did try to let it as a pub, with a very tight tie, but found no takers in these recessionary days!
So it was put on the market, but signs were not erected on the building until the day it was sold! If you happened across the Admiral Taverns Website (as you do) then clicked on pubs/then pubs for sale/ then enter a postcode then you may have found a small picture and a brief description of the pub and told were to find out the price.
Quite a few people who found out about the sale were interested in buying the Bush, they mostly wanted to turn it into a house, or houses. However my brother and I have bought it, and it will stay a pub, and return to being a good pub! It is now a free house. Completion is on the 6th of April. We don't know when it will reopen, but it will have good beer and simple good food.
